I'm just dipping my toes in the waters of web development, and I've started playing with the Flask framework for python.  I tried PHP for a little while but decided it wasn't for me, and that learning Python would be good for other things as well.

While I'm learning Flask Python, I kept thinking that QBasic would be great for some similar scripting language.

Am I right about G-WAN being just that?

Hi Joshua,

Someone more knowledgable may correct me if I'm wrong, but while G-WAN could be used for web development, I don't believe it has been developed for a few years, I wouldn't start writing anything in it.

There is the legacy ASP which uses VBScript...but I wouldn't touch that either. If you are really looking to use BASIC for web development, I'd go with VB.NET/ASP.NET.

Important to note, however, that you'll need to learn HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to write just about anything these days...

Frankly this G-WAN forum should be archived. No work is being done on it. It was abandoned, like Android development, a few years ago.

Au contraire, it was only recently (with v1.1) that we pushed the changes requested by Fifi so that QB64 could be used with gwan, namely the -o switch to specify the output path for the resulting binary. It is consensus among the team that it is far from advisable to use QB64 for web development and that is for several reasons, but the request was added after all.

This subforum, on the other hand, was created so that Galleon could discuss the implementation with Fifi (author of most threads started here). Given what I just stated, I agree it has become quite useless as a subforum by now.
