« on: November 01, 2011, 08:21:04 AM »
Hi all,
That time of the month again has come around. November's update of the QB64 wiki is available as a zip file of 23M at:

Enjoy!

Thank you Oldos for taking care of this and helping people.

Can you kindly say what "23 MB" means.
Is this to indicate HOW LONG the zip file will take to download
Is it the amount of EXTRA space QB64 will now take up in our computers once upgraded.

23 MB means the number of keys I have probably pressed to make the darn thing!  ;)

And that doesn't INCLUDE edits!
QB64 WIKI: Main Page
Download Q-Basics Code Demo: Q-Basics.zip
Download QB64 BAT, IconAdder and VBS shortcuts: QB64BAT.zip
Download QB64 DLL files in a ZIP: Program64.zip

Hi all,
23MB = 23,000,000 bytes. This is the size of the compressed zip file. So you download 23MB and expand it onto your hard disk by unzipping it into its own folder. Once decompressed its about 110MB = 110,000,000. As you will realize 23 is much faster to download than 110. Thanks for the query and i hope this clears up any confusion.

Thanks Oldos, it is great we can rely on you.

There does remain one question:-
This 110 MB
Is that the INCREASE in size of QB64 in my computer?
Or is nearly 110 MB REPLACED by new stuff so the size stays almost the same.

And thanks for saying it is Bytes
So oft the advertising bunch use bits yet write MB instead of Mb
Never mind, the "peak instantaneous power" of loudspeakers is 32 times their watts, so we are used to advertisers, even as watts is "smoke arises" rather than undistorted sound.

Where you place the Offlinewiki is up to you. Mine is on the desktop. When i update and have a new file each month, i unzip in the same location and select "replace files" option. This way the size of the Offlinewiki's folder stay relatively the same. The contents of your computer will increase by 100 MB in the somewhere that you put it.
Personally i keep the Offlinewiki and QB64 in separate folders.

Thanks Oldos
So you are saying the stuff added to QB64 REPLACES old stuff: the size hardly grows at all
Thank you. Nobody said this before.
