QB64 Game Coders - Contest at GameJolt.com

Game Jolt is holding a one week game programming contest.  A chance for QB64 game coders to show off QB64.

The contest starts Midnight the 11th and lasts for a week.  They will announce the theme of the game when it starts.  They will also announce the prizes at that point too.  I believe you have to be entered by that time though to get in on it.

Interesting.  From the poster the theme might be  Easter eggs eat the Easter bunny?  Lol.

Are you entering, TerryRitchie?

Yes, I entered but may not participate. It depends on the theme and if I have the time and resources to create a game with their theme in mind.

I signed up for it as well, but I'm not sure if I'll actually enter or not.  It depends on the theme, and my free time.  School starts back next week for my daughter, so that always makes this a busy time of year for me.

And the theme is:FEAR!

I'm thinking of making a political simulation where you can bribe, blackmail, deceive, and influence voters.

No matter how you play the game, Obama always comes out winning....   What could be more fear inducing than having him elected a second term!!

Had a wedding to go to and my lousy wifi router has been playing up so I missed the start of the contest.

I will keep an eye on it though, looks like some good progress has been made already on some of the games.

These sort of competitions really can deliver excellent stuff, but I don't think I'm built for them. Perhaps if I was on a vacation, one week could be doable for me. Dunno. I have to have a set of development tools I'm extremely comfortable with and proficient in, and also be in a certain game dev/programming form to manage such short development cycles, which I'm currently not in.

Ludum Dare comeptitons are even more insane. 48 hours development cycles! And they still result is wonderful games. I rather not think about some of those game dev wizards. Can be depressing comparing with them.
