V0.954 Registers As A High Virus Threat By Norton 360

<< < (3/5) > >>

DSMan195276:
The _MEM stuff was really all that was added to 0.954. I don't really see how that would make Norton think it was a threat though. From Norton's point of view I don't see what changed, all the _MEM C++ equivalents were already in QB64 (in the form of malloc, memcpy, etc.).

Hi Georgeadams.

It's really important that you tell me the reason WHY Norton said it might be a virus. Please try the install again but this time click on the details button. I've had a couple of issues with my 360 over the last month with QB64 but every time I check it out the reason for removal is "very few users".

If it's "very few users" it's safe to say it wasn't a virus. So the next time the sonar pops up click on 'details' then 'options'. In options choose 'recover and omit this file from future scans'.

Norton seems to have tightened their definition of 'very few users' over the past month. It's frighteningly harsh for indie developers. It isn't even based of heuristics (ie. any form of logic) anymore. Norton's Sonar system is really disappointing. I'll have to contact them and have a yarn.

Absolutely. Run MalwareBytes a few times a week.

Yes, "very few users" turned out to be the cause.  I will follow your inhibit instructions and get MalwareBytes as well.  Thanks so much for the help...the QB64 product is the best thing out there.

Use Avast and Advanced SystemCare.
